Exams – G0001

by Zac Trolley on Nov.16, 2009, under Uncategorized

We have gotten a lot of complaints this year about the exam schedule, exams all in a row and having to write some exams off campus. Here is the Email I got :

Your final examination in December will be held in the Gymnasium of PACI (G0001). Students should be aware that this building is part of Lakehead University but it is located away from the main campus.
PACI is a stone building located at the corner of Red River Road and Waverley Street adjacent to Waverley Park. Signage will be posted to indicate entrance doors to the gymnasium. Entry will be from Waverley Street as the main PACI parking lot is reserved for construction vehicles. Parking will be available along Waverley Street and on adjacent roadways. Any questions  should be directed to the Scheduling Office.

Hopefully we can answer some of your questions. Like, what is the PACI? What bus goes there? How do I know when the next bus is?

Here is a transit map for Thunder Bay if you are interested.

There is also a petition going to make sure the University knows how unhappy the students are. I STRONGLY urge you to sign it, the original exam schedule was for 12 days and it has been shortened to 9. Also, the only regulation there is against exam overloading is you can’t have 3 exams in the same day. I think this is unacceptable, and if you also think it should be changed, swing by the LUSU office (NOT the ESS office) and put your name down, saying that you aren’t happy either.

Sign the petition!

OEC 2010

by Zac Trolley on Oct.07, 2009, under Uncategorized

OEC 2010 is fast approaching, and we are looking for submissions for this year’s competition.

The Ontario Engineering Competition is held every year at a different school, and is a chance to show off our stuff and compete with other schools. This year it’s being hosted by Waterloo and is taking place in late January. If you think you have what it takes, drop off a summary of what your idea is at the LUSU office care of the ESS. We will be looking at all the submissions to decided who, if anyone we will be sending.

Oh yea, there is prize money for the winners; up to $3500 for first place.

For complete rules, and competition categories, please visit the official site. We are not looking for senior or junior design teams at this point, but maybe in the future.
